Total area of the Swedish forest
In 2010, the total area of the European forest was 38%. Sweden alone accounts for 17.6% of the forests of the European Union. At the level of industrial exploitation, this country comprises 15% of the total of the EU. Moreover, with less than 1% of the world's forests, Sweden accounts for 6% of the world's sawnwood production and 4% of the world's paper production. Sweden has 22 million hectares with an afforestation rate of more than 70%. It has a standing timber volume of 2.6 billion m³.
